Dear Parents and Guardians of Eighth Grade Students:
As January comes to a close, we are starting to look ahead to some of the exciting experiences that are on the horizon for our seniors. Before we know it, it will be time to watch our class of 2025 walk across the stage at St. John’s Carnesecca Arena to receive their diplomas.
As a reminder, graduation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 2:00pm at St. John’s Carnesecca Arena. Each graduate will receive 4 tickets to the ceremony. The graduate does not need a ticket to attend. Extra tickets are available upon request via a Google Form in the coming month. Due to the size of the Carnesecca Arena, we anticipate being able to grant all requests for extra tickets.
We are happy to announce that we have secured funding for St. John’s; therefore, the $50 many of you paid earlier in the year will be applied to your Senior Dues Package. Please see chart below for all the due dates regarding senior events. Mr. Siklas will collect for MAA and Ms. Trotta will collect for RBG.
Please be advised that any student who is NOT being promoted will be unable to attend the graduation ceremony or any senior events, as per Chancellor’s regulations. Additionally, it is our top priority to ensure that graduation and senior events will be a safe and enjoyable experience for all of our students. Students can be removed from senior activities if they fail to adhere to the school’s code of conduct and the NYCDOE Citywide Behavioral Expectations. Please see below for information that was shared at the beginning of the year:
Participation in Senior Activities:
Please be advised that in the interest of the safety of our students, the school reserves the right to prohibit any student from attending the prom, senior trip or the graduation ceremony when he or she poses a real threat of violence or disruption to the event. Any child who has engaged in serious misconduct may be prohibited from participating in these senior activities. You will be notified by the school if your child is in danger of being prohibited from attending either of these events.
Please speak with your child about the importance of adhering to the NYCDOE Citywide Behavioral Expectations and listening to school authorities. If your child is at risk of not being permitted to attend the senior activities, the school will contact you to set up a meeting. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Best,
Vanessa Williams
Principal
